Custom Tool and Die's engineering department works in close collaboration with the customer, our sales department, and with manufacturing to produce tools that meet or exceed our customers needs. Our engineers have demonstrated their skills not only by new designs, but also by tasks such as reverse engineering via our CMM department or even "lending a hand" when needed in the manufacturing department.
Our project engineers started their careers as apprentices under die makers to become tool makers themselves. We feel this is an important concept because they have a thorough working knowledge of the tools they are designing.
Our designs are developed using Solid Edge ST and are created by means of solid modeling. Working with solid models from conception to delivery of the final tool allows us to manufacture products that have solid performance, which for our customer means return on investment.
Upon completion of the die, our customers are provided with electronic design data and, if requested, a complete set of plots. The electronic archive that our customers receive contains both 3-D and 2-D data. The 3-D data is exported to whatever format is most easily transferred to your native design software. The most common types of data requested are .x_t, .stp and .xpk. The 2-D data is exported to dwg as well as pdf files. The designs are provided to the customer either by CD, email, or ftp.
